  1. Big Daddy Meter MOd

Posted by Dave on 28th Jan 2012

I've been using my Big Daddy Meter Mod for three weeks straight non stop. I've been using personal vaporizers for almost three years. This is not my first variable voltage device, but it is by far the best I have used.

It works every time. You push the button and it fires the atomizer. Never a missfire. I use a few different atomizers at different ohms and it is really easy to dial in each one. I like having the display so that I can preset the voltage to the atomizer I'm using and then fine tune it from there.

I've looked pretty carefully at the internal components of this device. The soldering is top notch and everything is well thought out with it's placement. I have a couple of box mods from other vendors that have the components covered in hot glue or some type of epoxy, which means that if something stops working, it can't be fixed. The Big Daddy Meter Mod does not have any type of epoxy or hot glue. If a component fails, it can be sent in and fixed.
I don't imagine this will happen in the near future, but it's comforting to know that it can be serviced. I can't say enough about the quality of craftsmanship. I don't know of a device on the market that can match it.

Another thing I like about this mod is the evercool circuitry. This switching regulator (as appose to a linear regulator) allows the mod to run cooler/more efficiently. This leads not only to extended battery life, but also the internal components should last longer since everything runs substantially cooler.

I highly recommend this device. I don't normally do reviews, but I felt like I had to take the time to review this mod. I am very happy. Cheers.

  2. Big Daddy Meter Mod (Great)

    Big Daddy Meter Mod
Variable Volt: 1 Volt to 6.5 Volts
Circuitry: Vari-Cool for extended battery life and almost no interior heat accumulation.
    Connection: 510 Only
    Power: 2 18650 3.7 Volt Batteries

    Dimensions:

    Width: 1 7/8"
    Height: 3 15/16"
    Deep: 1"

Overall Impression: This is a first class, high quality mod at a reasonable price. Materials and workmanship are outstanding. The variable voltage makes it a versatile mod that will do what many higher priced mods won't do. I've had mine for a couple of weeks, and I'm very happy with my purchase.

This mod is powered by two 18650 batteries, so most would think this has to be a big beast. It's not - just the opposite. It's a relatively small mod that easily fits in the hand or shirt pocket. The dimensions above should give you an idea about just how small this mod really is. The two 18650 batteries will easily power the mod for days (not just hours) - even for heavy use.

The mod is enclosed in a single and seamless heavy plastic enclosure with entry by a flat plastic back with 4 very strong magnets. Don't worry about the back falling off - you have to take it off on purpose. The seamless case under the 510 connection reduces the risk of juice getting into the mod to harm internal components. The edges and corners are rounded. Overall, the external appearance is attractive and professional.

The built-in voltage meter is flush with the front of the mod and is by all appearances professionally installed. It looks very nice and you can easily read the numbers when the mod is fired. I had no idea that I would enjoy this feature as much as I do. It takes the guess work out of dialing in various voltages for specific combinations. I opted to have an internal switch to turn the meter off if I want to, but I really can't imagine turning it off. It simply helps to make everything work - from low voltage applications to high voltage applications. It is certainly useful in fine-tuning the voltage to get the best out of just about every combination you can imagine. If it works with a 510 connection or an adapter to other connections, you can make it work at peak performance with this versatile mod.

The appearance of the inside is also professional. The wiring and circuit boards are installed very neatly and out of the way for inserting or removing batteries. Nothing appears to be cheap or flimsy. A small round firing button is installed on the right side near the top (convenient and natural feeling to use). The variable voltage dial is installed on the top to the left of the 510 connection, again a convenient and natural feeling to use. Setting the voltage couldn't be easier - turn the knob clockwise for higher voltage and counter-clockwise for lower voltage.
